Southeast MN Adult Mental Health Initiative Offers
2027 Grant Funding to Increase Adult Mental Health Services Regionwide

Southeast, Minn. - Beginning September 11, 2026, the Southeast Adult Mental Health Initiative (SE AMHI) will accept grant applications from mental health and related service providers serving Dodge, Fillmore, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Steele, Wabasha, Waseca, and Winona Counties.

The SE AMHI Community Grant Fund supports services for adults with serious and persistent mental illness. Its purpose is to expand the range of services available so individuals can choose options appropriate to their needs.

Applicants may apply for up to two grants and may request between $5,000 and $45,000 for each grant. A total of $400,000 is available for the 2027 grant cycle. Applications are due by close of business Friday, October 9, 2026. Grant recipients will be announced in January 2027, and contracts will be issued in February 2027.

SE AMHI invites applications for projects addressing at least one of the following funding priorities:

• Services that reduce mental health disparities and improve access for underserved populations.
• Services that improve access to mental health care in rural communities.
• Services valued and supported by people with lived experience, such as peer support services and drop-in centers. This may be demonstrated through recommendations from local advisory councils, staff or board members with lived experience, community members with lived experience, peer support specialists, or others with relevant lived experience.
• Services that prioritize individuals facing the greatest barriers to health, stability, and access to care due to social and economic circumstances.
• Housing combined with services and supports that promote stability and recovery.

SE AMHI is a collaboration among 10 counties, community members, organizations, and mental health service providers working to ensure accessible adult mental health services throughout the region. Regional services include drop-in centers, permanent supportive housing, intensive residential treatment services, a regional crisis center, support groups, Mental Health First Aid instructors, local advisory councils, and other community-based services.
